This Hereford Section video was filmed on Wednesday 24 July. The route took in Pembridge (River Arrow), Broome Lane, Eardisland, Hardwick, Bearwood, Moorcroft Fruit Farm Lyonsall and return to Kington. Some of the route involved narrow lanes, with crumbly sides, or pot holy, and the centre line covered in grass tends to stop the Penny front wheel. Then you turn a corner sometimes and find a for...

Another Hereford Section ride on 12 June 2024. The beauty of the Hereford Section Wombat rides on a Wednesday is the wonderful countryside, totally informal nature of the rides, the excellent company and the catholic taste of machines that are ridden. This rekindles lot's of memories for me. Been a member of CTC Cheltenham section since the 1980's and this is the type of rides we used to do every Sunday, sadly it's all changed in the last few years with many members having passed away and others switching to carbon fibre bikes turning the rides more into fast runs more like a race club. There are only a handful of us now still doing a touring type of ride (such as you do) Both my wife and myself ride our 1980's Dawes super galaxies with Carradice saddle bags. I wish you had a group in our area. I have done a few cycling related videos - they are on my channel if interested. Thanks for the video, I have subscribed to your channel. John.

Placed 7th that day was Jim Ogden who led the Midland Clarion to the team prize. Sadly, Jim died recently aged 94 in May 2024 after many years with the Altrincham Ravens CC. Jim also gave lots of service to the sport of cycling where he was the chairman of his local branch of the Veterans Time Trial Association for 45 years, plus the organisation's national president for four years. I only knew Jim for around 10 years but I regarded him as a gentleman who always had time to talk about cycling. R.I.P. Jim

i've ridden my 531 bike since the 70's, it's part of the family, & i know it's not going to snap in two and cost £1,000's if i come off. I'd have loved a 753 back in the day but like most of us couldn't afford it. I've also got another 2 531 frames (a walvale and bill hargreaves) from that time, the lugs on the walvale are amazing - they don't make 'em like that anymore.

Brilliant interview...I had the pleasure of John comming past me in the 1982 Manchester Wheelers 100 I still have the finish sheet. I was No 92 and he was Scratch Man No 100. Guess at around 10 mls in he passed. Tried to maintain a gap for a little while but his pace was so much higher and he just gradually pulled away into the distance and dissapeared not to be seen again, By me that was.
